A rift in the fabric of space-time occurs at the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus. Suddenly multiple dimensions collide and coalesce. Time travelers and space farers exist alongside terrestrials who had previously lived thousands of years apart. The world is now a fractured patchwork of time and space with Rome at the center of it all. The world is now RomanPunk.”* RomanPunks is a retro-futuristic cyberpunk derivative world-building project founded in April, 2021. We find inspiration from 80s pop culture + science fiction authors including Wiliam Gibson, Philip K. Dick, Harry Turtledove etc., while being motivated by professional studies in ancient history, art history, illustration and blockchain technology. RomanPunks exist as Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) which are IP that provide benefits to the owners through gameplay and dividends in the form of NFT airdrops and profit sharing. ### ***COLLECT*** RomanPunk Avatar NFTs are listed on OpenSea on the Ethereum blockchain. Own an Ethereum RomanPunk NFT, join our Discord RPG community and collaborate to expand the story around your character that will become part of the RomanPunks 66 AD comic series. # Why Ethereum? When the RomanPunk project was founded in April 2021, the Ethereum blockchain was the most popular blockchain for NFT projects and investments. To this day, it continues to be so. While the gas fees are unfavourable for collecting and utility, our limited supply of 1,000 Ethereum NFTs on OpenSea act as our principle 'shares' in the RomanPunk Metaverse. RomanPunk ETH NFTs are meant for HODLers. Thanks to the OpenSea marketplace's gasless minting on ERC-1155, we were able to launch our project with no coding experience and expose our art and concept to the widest possible community. Once our limited cap of 1,000 ETH NFTs on OpenSea are sold, we have plans to migrate on chain to our own ERC-721 contract that will provide our collection unlimited opportunity for further project ERC-20 tokenization and use in DeFi such as liquidity pools, etc. Other projects in the ETH space that have followed/are following similar paths include CyberKongz, DystoPunks, Bears Deluxe & Bitz Club. Ethereum and OpenSea are also connected with The Sandbox ecosystem, which is another reason for our project to maintain a strong presence there. # Why WAX? Compared to many other blockchains, WAX has extremely low transaction fees which make it the perfect blockchain to make NFT based games and utility that requires frequent trading, exchanging and blending of assets. Additionally the WAX blockchain is extremely fast and transactions are done in seconds. And there is a great deal of native utility built on to the NeftyBlocks platform, for which we have a Level 3 staking ability that allows us to take advantage of all the built in utility including pre-minted packs and super blends. Also notable is the WAX community - it is a comprised of a relatively small group of boutique projects and collectors interested in gameplay, utility and cost effective NFT acquisition. Apart from the utility and affordability of the blockchain itself, one of our principal drivers for expanding to WAX was to organically develop a community of like minded participants. # Our Collections There are currently two official collections in the RomanPunks Metaverse: * [RomanPunk 'Avatar' NFTs on ETH (OpenSea)](https://opensea.io/collection/romanpunks) * [RomanPunk 'Trading Card' NFTs on WAX (AtomicHub)](https://wax.atomichub.io/explorer/collection/romanpunksio) # Ecosystem Token The RomanPunks Metaverse consists of NFT collections on Ethereum and WAX blockchains with a 'play 2 earn' gameplay experience under development on The Sandbox and one similarly proposed for WAX. In the future, the RomanPunks Metaverse will develop our very own ecosystem token, which we will call DENARII. DENARII is the smallest value unit in our Metaverse which will be used for mining/farming, cross-blockchain integration and acquisition of game asset and collectible NFTs. DENARII will be based on the WAX blockchain, to take advantage of low gas fees and facilitate the development of a RomanPunk trading game on WAX. DENARII token, however, can also be converted into items that players can use in our upcoming Sandbox experience. The DENARII token will be connected to our Discord ecosystem economy, so users can start earning DENARII token by engaging in our Discord. We will also create a system where our loyal community will be able to buy DENARII token pre-ICO. Additionally, we'll arrange airdrops before the DENARII token ICO date. The first airdrop will be based on the number of ETH RomanPunks & Legendary & Mythical WAX RomanPunks that a person is holding; secondly we will do an airdrop that is based on community interaction and is tied in with the user's bank balance in our Discord ecosystem and the users rank. # Chainlink VRF RomanPunks employs a Chainlink VRF smart contract on Ethereum mainnet to utilize the power of verified randomness to ensure impartiality in project contests and random distribution of profit sharing awards. Chainlink VRF enables us to get an unlimited series of random numbers that are cryptographically verified on-chain as being tamper-proof. As a result, users can now participate in contests in addition to receiving dividend awards periodically. Thanks to Chainlink VRF, our community can rest assured that recipients of high value NFT airdrops are selected without bias or manipulation. All RomanPunk Ethereum NFT holders will be entitled to dividends as part of our [community pool](broken://pages/aa9nJy3YHjEUJlQs82OF). For these holder perks, our smart contract interacting with Chainlink VRF will be employed to select the recipient(s). Furthermore, we opened the “[Jupiter Raffle](https://romanpunks.medium.com/the-jupiter-raffle-an-epic-nft-giveaway-powered-by-chainlink-vrf-323cf6d579cf)” in which one lucky holder of a RomanPunk NFT between [‘RomanPunk#501’ and ‘RomanPunk#600’](https://opensea.io/collection/romanpunks?search\[stringTraits]\[0]\[name]=Type\&search\[stringTraits]\[0]\[values]\[0]=VRF1) was awarded the hallowed Chainlink Jupiter NFT. We selected Chainlink VRF as our go-to [random number generator](https://docs.chain.link/docs/chainlink-vrf/) (RNG) solution because it allows any user to verify the integrity of the randomness relied on to pick winners. By supplying cryptographic proofs, Chainlink VRF helps ensure that the randomness is generated and supplied on-chain in a tamper-proof manner, leading to provably fair and unbiased outcomes for users. Not even our development team can tamper with the process, nor can outside users predict results. Going forward, as the RomanPunks project evolves into metaverse games built on WAX and Sandbox, we intend to utilize Chainlink VRF to randomly assign attributes to players. We are also planning to implement a Chainlink VRF-powered system for randomly assigning NFT properties for a RomanPunk generative NFT project built on the Polygon blockchain. > *“Chainlink is to RomanPunks what aqueducts were to Rome. Even Cicero would be satisfied with the veracity and impartiality of the results.”* *–RomanPunk Emperor Punktavian* # Genesis Eth 'PFP' NFTs Only 1,000 RomanPunks have been frozen in time and permanently minted on the Ethereum blockchain. Who are these mysterious RomanPunks who exhibit great diversity of style and personality? Well, they consist of a few famous people from history and pop culture as well as a large number of commoners from different ranks of society that reflect the social structures of Ancient Rome. Deities, emperors, generals, patricians, equestrians, plebeians, freedmen, slaves, centurions, soldiers, gladiators and peregrinae are among the diverse range of characters represented in this eclectic community. # WAX 'Trading Card' NFTs RomanPunks were born on Ethereum, but have come alive on WAX. While the original OpenSea RomanPunk NFTs are all 1:1 (max 1,000 supply), there are far more WAX NFTs available (although the exact number has yet to be revealed). Higher volume allows for many more collectors to acquire RomanPunk NFTs while making them more accessible and affordable. Furthermore, the efficiency of the WAX blockchain + higher mint numbers allows for greater utility and gamification — next steps in the RomanPunk development project timeline. #### **Card Rarities** All RomanPunk trading cards will fall into 1 of 5 rarities from ‘mythical’ being the least common to ‘common’ being the most ubiquitous. Rarities will be important for adding collector value to the RomanPunk NFTs, but also for blending and game utility. # Character Types ### Commoners The vast majority of RomanPunks are common, and they fit into one of the following 10 categories: ***Patrician*** the ‘elite’ of society — high status and wealthy RomanPunks who generally look down on everyone else. ***Equestrian*** your typical ‘upper-middle-class’ snobs who spend more time in Toga raves than actually doing any work. ***Plebeian*** the average, every day joe shmoes of society — hard working folk who get by on an honest day’s wage. ***Peregrinae*** the RomanPunks who move around and typically originate from places far away from the capital. ***Soldier*** the common footsoldier, represented from a whole range of ages and locales. ***Centurion*** a middle ranking officer with punk tendencies who leads a small group of soldiers. ***Freedman*** a former slave who was granted his freedom and makes the most of it. ***Slave*** these poor unfortunate punks must try to make it through life without their freedom. ***Servant Woman*** the typical servant who tends to the every needs of wealthy folk with some punk sass. ***Gladiator*** they fight to the death; for those who are about to die we salute you! ### Nonhuman/Undead Some RomanPunk citizens have been infiltrated by or transformed into a range of nonhuman and undead creatures ***Ape*** believed to come from a dimension that is populated entirely by apes, the RomanPunk apes have taken the places of common citizens and act naturally in the roles they have assumed. ***Alien*** how they got here, we do not know, but they creep the hell out of all the RomanPunks. ***Cyborg*** living tissue over metal endoskeleton, there are some cyborgs that live among the RomanPunks. Unfortunately, their facial skin peeled off from the interdimensional journey, yet they still attempt to integrate fully with the common folk. ***Vampire*** these bloodthirsty creatures are typically seen looking pale faced and hungry for their next feed. ***Zombie*** we’re not sure, but it’s possible that a dimension exists where a plague has created a race of undead beings. Some of them ended up in the ranks of the RomanPunks. ***Animalia*** who doesn’t love cute and cuddly creatures? A whole range of bestiary have found their way into the RomanPunk community. ### Famous A number of famous citizens from the original Roman dimension exist; so do many from pop culture, science fiction and literature. ### Deities/Gods Yes, many of the great Roman gods including Jupiter, Bellona, Venus, Saturn and Neptune prosper within the realm of the RomanPunks. # Blends RomanPunk WAX NFTs are blendable! Users will combine special 'coin' NFTs with 'trading card' NFTs to blend up into rare, epic and legendary NFTs in order to complete their collections. Blend on NeftyBlocks: Read More: # Discord Catacombs RPG The "Catacombs" has been customized from a Global Discord-based RPG bot that awards experience points and quests to players for engaging in our RomanPunks Discord sever. The bot is called DueUtil, and the full instructions for gameplay can be seen here: Discord users register with the bot, equip themselves with a weapon and complete quests to gain experience and level up in traditional RPG fashion. Quests spawn by engaging and chatting on the Discord, similar to the way that experience points are awarded through MEE6 bot. If they don't feel like chatting, users can engage in the casino games and in the 'count's castle' (simple counting bot channels) to help facilitate quest to spawn. There is also a 'pet battle' section, where users can buff up and battle pets that will help in completion of the quests. Some quests can be redeemed for WAX cards on completion. These quests are visible by the :candle:icon next to the name, and once completed, can be logged and user will have that NFT airdropped to them. ## ***NOTE: As of January, 2023, the Discord Catacombs RPG Bot is disabled while a new bot that automates the transfer of earned NFTs is under development.*** # Colosseum Clash on Twitch Colosseum Clash is the RomanPunk gladiator battle simulation broadcast on Twitch. A playable game was developed that was submitted for a Game Jam competition in January 2021. ## ***As of December 2022, our team is working on a new proposal for The Sandbox Game Maker Fund to build larger and more interactive RomanPunks experiences on The Sandbox.*** # WAX Trading Card Game Development of a comprehensive RomanPunk Trading Card game on WAX is under discussion. We are currently seeking experienced WAX devs/partners to help us create a fully immersive RomanPunks experience on WAX with a functioning tokenomics and staking system. The game will also be playable as a tabletop game. # Denarii DENARII is our Discord based currency.
